Moving on…

At some point, one has to accept the fact that a book one has written may never be published traditionally. Even so, thanks to awesome technology, I can share the sequel to Refuge with those who are interested. Check out Dark Light Dance: Unity on I haven’t given up on having Unity published someday, but for now, this is what’s available–simply because I don’t have the budget or the computer savvy to publish it myself. Still, I have no...

Muse Hysteria

Posted by on Apr 17, 2015 in Blog

It’s a little bit crazy to me how this writing thing works. I’ll be super busy and not write a word for days, which is okay with me. I don’t think I’ll ever be a “butt-in-chair every day at 9 a.m.” type, and there are other things that are simply top priority. Clothes must be washed, errands run, lessons prepared. Husbands and friends, children and grandchildren all need attention that I am eager to give. But then on the fourth or fifth...

The Perilous Journey

Posted by on Apr 11, 2015 in Blog

Publishing a first book is a perilous journey indeed. All of sudden you’re out there, in the world, with something that has your name on it. What people think of the book you put your very heart and soul into means a lot, especially from people you know. Therefore, I am relieved that I can give my friend’s book a five-star rating. Whew! Leigh Statham’s The Perilous Journey of a Not-So-Innocuous Girl is a winner-winner-chicken-dinner of a first book. The...

Enter: The Muse

Posted by on Mar 27, 2015 in Blog

Really there’s nothing like a rain-soaked day, a lamp-lit office, and a Diet Dr. Pepper to invite The Muse. If only there weren’t so many projects to choose from. The organized me begs, “Finish the story you started on Watt Pad” in a very whiny voice. Bah, humbug, not today. The nostalgic me wants to take another look at Unity (sequel to Refuge!) and do some revising, but my editor is out of town and I should wait for her latest notes. So the...

Strapping on the Sword

Posted by on Aug 15, 2014 in Blog

After my publisher decided not to publish the sequel to Refuge, I tried to find another publisher for it.  I didn’t have any luck, although there were some nibbles. In the end, no one wanted to take a chance on a sequel since the sales numbers usually decrease with the second book. I understood that (even if I didn’t like it), and managed to keep the faith by setting it aside for a while. I turned to another project and finished a completely different book—a fantasy—which...

I’ve discovered Wattpad!

Posted by on Aug 2, 2014 in Blog

Recently, I have begun putting a few things on Wattpad. It’s really fun to share some stories with the world without having to go through a publisher! So far, I’ve put up a prequel to Refuge called “First Place” Dark Light Dance: Refuge .5. Today, I dug out an oldie but goody and revised the first few chapters. It’s fun to revisit old places and characters and anticipate having people discover them. Here are the links if you would like to read...
