The Perilous Journey
Publishing a first book is a perilous journey indeed. All of sudden you’re out there, in the world, with something that has your name on it. What people think of the book you put your very heart and soul into means a lot, especially from people you know. Therefore, I am relieved that I can give my friend’s book a five-star rating. Whew! Leigh Statham’s The Perilous Journey of a Not-So-Innocuous Girl is a winner-winner-chicken-dinner of a first book. The characters are unique and fun to get to know. The plot may be simple, but it keeps one turning pages. No way was I putting it down once I started! I could see the action happening in my mind’s eye, always a good sign of great descriptive writing and I felt the tension crackling until I turned the last page with a satisfied sigh. Lady Marguerite might have had a perilous journey getting to the New World, but I feel pretty sure that Leigh Statham’s journey will be smooth sailing from here on out.
